File this under the department of ‘Someone is paying attention out there’. The good guys in blue at the Fontana Unified School District have  been given the OK to purchase and store 14 AR’s on premise at several campuses in locked safes. The purpose is that these weapons are to be available to police officers responding to any incident at these campuses.

Fontana Police Chief Rodney Jones said “It’s unfortunate that we have to have that, but it’s the best message we can send to anybody that thinks to harm our children. The message we’re sending is…not here, not now, we’re prepared for you. And if you seek to harm our children, we will neutralize that threat and you will most likely be killed.”

Of course the news article had to show a balanced approach and some are not pleased with this development.

“If a person who has the intention of coming on campus to kill… knows we have the AR-15s…they might come with something even bigger or better. They will come prepared,” said School board member Sophia Green. That may well be true, but I for one would rather have a Police officer fighting some lunatic with Giant mutant spiders have an AR-15 than nothing at all.

In what may be a completely accidental slip, the news anchor announcing this story says “Storing Automatic weapons…” when there is no indication that the AR-15’s stored are fully auto.
